Tea Time, Yet?
One of the things on my list of ways to decompress is to enjoy a cup of tea. But seriously, who has time for all that? By the time the water heats up, I'm off doing something else. Usually, I totally forget about my steeping tea until it's no longer "tea." lol. I did switch to a thermos mug which helped.
Not too long ago, I thought I was busy. In fact, I thought it couldn't get busier. But, boy was I wrong. On the good side, my son is getting three therapy sessions a week now. And on a better note - he's responding well and making some great improvements, improvements that are not "supposed to" be made over 15 years from the initial injury. For this I am so grateful!
I am thinking that "busy" is not a long enough word to describe my situation - perhaps you can relate.
I think we can all agree that caregiving is demanding. And it demands more than just physical stamina - although that is a huge factor. Caregiving makes a draw on every part of our being from our emotions to our mental health. And scriptures are there to constantly remind us to be joyous in our trials. That's what I was reading in James chapter 1 this morning.
I'm pretty sure the word "joy" wasn't used in the passage describing David and Goliath, Daniel in the lion's den, or in the whole book of Job! Yet James reminds the believers who have been scattered by persecution to stay in joy and be thankful. I cry foul - NOT FAIR!
But what would the story of David be without the giants? Would we love Daniel's story if he'd been born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth? Isn't it the stories of how our Bible heroes overcame their situations and continued to proclaim their faith in the midst of them that encourages us to keep going, to keep running back to God.
I'm pretty sure we're not going to find a scripture that says "they lived happily ever after." But we will find stories of those who have endured fights, giants, lions, floods, slavery, and more - and continued to trust God one day at a time.
Today, I'll remind myself that God is with me just like He was with all my Bible heroes. I will take a lesson from David and encourage myself in the Word. I'll remind myself that God has my back, that He is surrounding me with songs of deliverance, and that He can indeed deliver peace to my soul even in the middle of the storm, the trial, and caregiving! I will trust Him for one more day, will you join me?

So glad therapy seems to be showing some progress. We have Home Health (just recently) and it has been a blessing. Gives me a “small” rest from baths, at least. He doesn’t have to “go” for tests, etc. They bring them to our home.
ReplyDeleteWe've had home health for some time and it helps a LOT - especially since they can change out his peg tube! The doctor also comes to our house for checkups.. it's those "little" things that help so much!
