Little Details

The other morning, I stepped outside to enjoy the coolness. While I was admiring the beauty and intricate details of a small white flower, a small bug flew into the flower. I watched for a little while and thought about how God planned the smallest details in nature. How did He come up with all of that? Lol!

Firstly, He created the flower in such intricate detail and unique beauty. Then he made the small bug that would come to pollinate it, so more would grow. What an amazing system He created. And He didn't miss any of the tiny details it would take to keep the whole ecosystem going.

If He cared so much about those little flowers that He ensured they could continue to thrive, how much more does He care about us? Psalm 139:3 reminds us that He is intimately acquainted with all our ways. This psalm talks about how He watched our bodies form in the wombs of our mothers. He gets the details.

For caregivers, our days are made up of lots of details. Our brains and hearts have to sort through tons of details every moment of every day just to survive. And you know what? God gets it all! He doesn't look away. And He doesn't just stand and stare. He remains intimately acquainted with our lives and sees each detail that makes our caregiving journal unique.

He cares about us! It can feel like the world has “gone on with life,” leaving us behind, emotionally stranded. But God keeps watching all the little details - the good, the bad, and the ugly. It's beautiful, really, when we think about it. He's invested in us!

Today, I will think about how God keeps watch over our hearts. My meditations will be on how He remains present and engaged. I'll turn my thoughts to how He is not going to leave me “emotionally stranded.” He will meet me in my here and my now with the grace I need to make it through this day. I think I am okay with Him knowing all the intimate details of my life, including my crazy thoughts. And since He knows all that, and chooses to stay, I will trust Him with one more day. Will you join me?
