The Reach
This morning, I came across a video of an old song I remember singing when I was a kid. Do you remember “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power”? It is really a powerful song to remind us that God's power and the blood of the cross will never be “not enough” for whatever we are facing.
But there was this one phrase that grabbed me today. It reaches to the highest mountain, and it flows to the lowest valley. I just stopped and thought about that for a while. Whether I feel like I am on a mountain or living in the deep, dark valley - His blood can reach me.
God doesn't bail when things get tough. And He won't walk out when things are good either, thinking we can handle it. He is with us through the thick and the thin, the tough and the easy, the good and the bad. No matter where we are or what we are going through, He can reach us.
That brought a lot of comfort to my soul this morning. He's got nowhere “better” to be than right here with me. I love that about God!
In Psalm 119:49-50, David says, Remember Your promise to me, for it is my only hope. Your promise revives me; it comforts me in ALL my troubles. (NLT)
Look at those “power” words in these two verses: hope, promise, revive, comfort. I think that covers a LOT. How about you? We will never be too down, too up, too tired, too sad, too distraught, too happy, too sad, or too ugly-cry-bound that He can't reach us.
Today, I'll remind myself that God is with me, and He brought all His buddies (hope, peace, joy, wisdom, comfort, promise, and revival) to play! I'll think about how I can't come up with anything today that He can't match and take care of. Why? He can always reach my heart - even if I don't want Him to. (Yep, it happens. Lol) He is not afraid of the shadows or the light. He is just present all the time. His heart can reach mine, and I will not fight it. I will reach back for it as I trust Him with one more day. Will you join me?
