Finding the Path

 

Most caregiving days are hard, period. Others are just more difficult to navigate than others. In verse 19 of Psalm 77 (yes, I'm still there! lol), it says God's path was in the sea. Asaph is referring to the Children of Israel, of course. They've just come out of Egypt. God has freed them from the clutches of slavery. It didn't take long for them to find themselves in another fix - right in the middle of God's great deliverance.

There they stand, on the banks of the Red Sea after watching first-hand all of God's miracles. To make matters worse, Pharaoh's army is pressing in behind. But God told Moses to go forward. Why? Because He had already placed His path in the Red Sea. That means that before He said Let there be light, He had laid the path for their escape. 

The path was there in their scariest moment and had been waiting there all along. God didn't have to figure out what to do once they arrived on the banks of the Red Sea. He had it planned already, with a path waiting for them - only time, the right time, would reveal it. No one needed to know about the path in the sea before that moment. No one needed it before, and it would never be used again. 

God had already been in their future, making sure that it was ready when time caught up with eternity. I wonder if He was a little bit excited. Maybe He couldn't wait to show them how He'd already prepared the way for their escape and their enemy's demise.

No matter what we face today, God's already been there. For us, that means asking Him for direction and waiting on Him to show us the way to go. We can ask for wisdom, ask Him what to do with our caregiving whatevers... and He will reveal the path in the right time.

Today, I'll remind myself that there is a path, and that He put it there long before I needed it. My part is to trust that He has already made a way for me today. He can't wait to show it to me! I will trust that with each step, each circumstance, each trial, He's already made a way. It's a sure path prepared for today. I believe it will be revealed as I continue to trust Him and turn to Him in prayer. I trust He will make a way for me today. Will you join me?
