Divine Declarations

Chris and my daddy

There have been many times when I'm sure God has carried me through situations. I'm pretty sure there have been some times that He's carried me kicking and screaming. Lol. As caregivers, we all have those times when we feel like we can't go on. Sometimes, it can seem like we can't even move, especially emotionally. Somehow, we make it. But we know that it is only because He is carrying us.

Well, I finally found it in a scripture!

The last part of Isaiah 46:4 (NLT 1996) says I will carry you along and save you. I was so excited to be reminded of this truth. It's funny how we can read something just when we need it. I'm sure I've read it before; I've probably even written about it before. LOL. But there it sits in black and white.

In some strange way, it brings comfort just knowing that God is close enough to scoop me up as needed. But there is so much more to this verse.

I've focused on how David regularly made declarations. In fact, all through the psalms, we see the psalmist declaring things like:

  • I will trust You
  • I will sing praise
  • I will lift up my hands to Your name
But in this verse, it's God who is doing the declaring. His divine declarations go like this:
  • I will be your God throughout your lifetime (until your hair is white with age) NLT
  • I will care for you
  • I will carry you
  • I will save you
I'm pretty sure we can take all of that to the bank!

Today, I'll remind myself that God is strong enough to carry me. He will not drop me, and He won't put me down. I'll think about how unafraid He is of the things that are staring me down today. I'll turn my thoughts and intentions toward resting in His arms, safe and secure. My declaration is that I will stay right there, trusting that He's got me for one more day. Will you join me?
